Taqueria Munoz in Asheville

Coming from someone who's lived many years in both Phoenix and LA where the Mexican food is amazing - this is legit one of the best taquerias I've ever been to. Phenomenal tacos. So awesome to have these guys out here in NC. Keep up the great work!

Coming from living in Houston and spending alot of time in the Rio Grande Valley and South of the border, moving to the mountains has been hard on my love for authentic Mexican food. This is exactly what I've missed, This isn't your Asheville fu fu hipster taco hangout. But if you want an authentic Mexican street taco, proper Mexican food. I'd be hard pressed to pick a better restaurant both south of the border or north of it.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Absolutely horrible service. Seems if you don’t speak Spanish you get treated like garbage. They didn’t do anything correct on our order. Took 15 minutes to figure it out and by that time the other food was cold. Has to demand a refund 5 times. And then he ripped the tacos out from in front of me. Tacos were cold and no flavor. I can’t for the life of me figure out why this place has good reviews.

Very traditional taqueria. Fresh corn tortillas and tasty meats. We will definitely be back. I hate it took this long to find a place like this so close to home!

Some of the best tacos that I've ever had! Specially the carne asada (steak) tacos. 100% real, homemade Mexican food. It's a must stop for my friends and I anytime we're in the area.

Hidden gem! If you like truly authentic Mexican food, you have to try this place. The tortillas are handmade in house. I highly recommend the lengua tacos. (Don't be scared! It's just tender beef!) The steak tacos and sopes with carnitas were also amazing.I also really like the fact that they have a salsa bar which includes lime wedges, onions, and cilantro so you can top your tacos yourself.They used to be cash only, but now accept credit/debit cards for orders $10 or over. Cash is still the best option, because their card swiper is in the other end of the building and is a nuisance to use.

A friend and I went and it was delicious. I tried the torta and had to try their tamales! Cheap and authentic!

This is the best, most authentic mexican restaurant in buncombe county. I am from San Diego and I like this place just as much as my favorite restaurants back home. I'd go so far as to say this is my favorite restaurant in Asheville.

Local (REAL local) Mexican place! Legit! Lady mama chefs call all the order numbers in Spanish! 🙂 Give you massive amounts of food for low prices. No 3 bite tacos here, folks! Mama Mia!

CINCO ESTRELLAS. LA COMIDA ESTA DELICIOSA Y AUTENTICA. ESTILO HECHO EN CASA. 😍Best Mexican food around. One of the best spots to eat authentic Mexican cuisine in the country. I know, I've been all over, I'm a trucker. I'm also Mexican, so i grew up eating this food. This to me is home cooking. Portions are huge and food is delicious Agua frescas are on point as are the homemade tortillas. For the people complaining that they don't speak english at this restaurant you can always go to Taco Bell instead of to an authentic Mexican Restaurant. 5 stars from someone who has eaten Mexican Food all his life.

Lives up to their hype. Don't be fooled by the hole I the wall place, the food is anything but. Mole on the weekend is delicious. Tacos on their homemade tortillas are fab.

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Got tacos, soles, quesadillas, and tamales, all of which were great. The quesadillas were my favorite, even though they were only ordered for the kids, which are filled with very generous amounts of cheese and meat. To be clear, this is not an American Mexican place, and if you are looking for some authentic Mexican food, I would recommend this place.

Hands down the most authentic Mexican food in town. The best restaurant in Asheville. They make every tortilla to order from fresh masa. Unbelievable

It is genuine Latin food. Hand made tortillas, salsas, traditionally cooked meats, authentic sauces makes this a find plucked out of a central American metropolis. DELICIOUS!

Love this place. Had the menudo and it was perfect. Clean and rich flavor. Cabeza taco and the best corn tortillas. Not a fan of beans and rice in my burrito but was still tasty. Come here every time I'm in town.

Wow! Had the chicken mole special, it was the first time I have tried mole since living in Mexico and it made me so happy. My partner had the carne asada torta and it may have been the best I’ve ever tried. This place is truly authentic and not overly greasy. Delighted to have found this real Mexican food in Asheville!

Love this place. Tasty, solid portions. This isn't some hipster taco barn, this is the real deal. Order and they cook everything fresh. Give me 2 pastor and 1 carnitas taco and a few beers and I'm a happy guy.

Having lived in north Texas for 25 years, this is the most authentic place I've eaten at in a long time. Service was fast and the food good!

Best Hispanic food in AVL. You won't find anything that compares to this authentic cuisine. The prices are great, food fabulous, and very friendly staff. But get there early b4 they run out of your favorite!! Easy to share bc the portions are large.

Some of the best Mexican food I’ve from around where I grew up.

From out of town, was looking for a restaurant that wasn't a cookie-cutter chain. Online photos of their fresh salsa bar caught our eye and off we went to Taqueria Muñoz. FRESH. BOLD. DELICIOUS. Everyting we tried was authentic. Rustic. Real. I watched in awe as a gal MADE soft taco shells on a grill while the rest of our meal was being prepared. The salsa bar was more than what I had hoped for. Mounds of fresh cilantro, chunks of lime, sliced onions soaking in jalapeno brine along with these huge, floating jalapenos. There's fresh salsa as well as mild green & spicy red chili sauces. My heart was singing and my wallet too. Prices were oh so reasonable, generous portions, very friendly staff & more tables and booths than you'd expect for dining in. A small market connects to the restaurant with fresh vegetables, sundries, drinks and more. I'm heading back to Asheville tomorrow and made sure to leave time to head to Taqueria Muñoz for dinner. I can't wait!

Hands down Asheville best taqueria.

This place was amazing! I can't believe there is a taco spot like this in Asheville! Very comparable to places like California and other places where authentic tacos are. They make the tortillas fresh in house and have a bar of condiments for you. The cabeza was the best I ever had. So flavorful I didn't have to add anything to it. Definitely give this place a try. For the taco bell lovers or apprehensive people they have quesadillas, chicken burritos and chicken tortas! You have no excuses give this place a try!

The pork tacos were amazing! I really loved the fresh made tortillas. The pico de gallo was nice and fresh along with the rest of the items on the salsa bar!

Great taste on the food. Highly recommended anything you eat it will be GREAT. I visited from Atlanta and we found the taqueria and everybody love it. Thanks a lot guys. The missing star because the cleaning of the bathroom.
